I believe that sometimes getting hurt is okay. Getting hurt really tests how true your feelings for someone is or how much you’re willing to tolerate when trying to achieve a goal. Being “hurt” may emphasize your real strength in any situation because it will show how much you can handle before giving up (for sometimes the better).
Obviously there are certain people & situations that aren’t even worth getting hurt over, you just have to know when to distinguish what is & what is not.
